Once you have the guitar music notes figured out for the open treble strings (E, B, & G), learn the open bass strings (E, A, & D).
A half note gets 2 BEATS in 4/4 time.
In your mind, you should be able to see - visualize - the note head location & know what string is associated with that location. Saying the note names while you play them is a reinforcement exercise.
